Grigoryan, Zohouri discuss Armenia-Iran railway operation in case of possible unblocking

YEREVAN. – Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan received Iranian Ambassador Abbas Badakhshan Zohouri, the government of Armenia informs Armenian News-NEWS.am.

The deputy PM emphasized the development of Armenia’s relations with friendly Iran, and thanked the latter for its targeted statements regarding Azerbaijan's recent military aggression against the sovereign territory of Armenia.

During the meeting, key matters on the bilateral agenda were discussed—particularly, cooperation in energy and transport.

The importance of operating the railway between Armenia and Iran in case of possible unblocking of regional transport connections, and the prospects of expanding respective cooperation were especially stressed.

Also, an agreement was reached to organize in Iran in the near future a meeting of the committee monitoring the implementation of the memorandum of understanding of the 17th session of the Armenian-Iranian intergovernmental commission—and during which matters of bilateral interest will be discussed in more detail.
