Meta sued for $3.2 billion in UK

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, is being sued for $3.2 billion in a class-action lawsuit in the United Kingdom over alleged use of user data.

Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) senior adviser Liza Lovdahl Gormsen is suing Meta on behalf of people who used Facebook in the UK between 2015 and 2019 for forcing users to provide personal data to get on the platform, earning billions of dollars on this tactic.

Gormsen claims that Facebook's data collection allowed them to create extensive user data profiles.

Facebook said people used its services because it delivered value for them and "they have meaningful control of what information they share on Meta's platforms and who with."
