Humanity has no chance of limiting global warming to the Paris climate target of 1.5°C, Microsoft founder Bill Gates is quoted by The Guardian.
The key is to minimize warming as much as possible. To stay below 2.5°C at this point would be fantastic, he said.
Gates added that while malaria still kills many children (400,000 a year), it is worth investing huge sums to combat the climate crisis, because it will get worse and worse over time.
Nuclear fission and fusion, he said, are very, very promising energy sources that don't depend on the weather.
